Carol Campbell

Carol Harris Campbell of Asheboro, North Carolina departed this life on Friday, May 25, 2018 at The Randolph Hospice House. We her family members, bow in humble submission to the Will of God. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018, at the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Born in Randolph County, NC on November 7, 1944, Carol was the daughter of the late Colester Marsh and Geneva McNeil Matthews. She graduated from Randolph High School and obtained her nursing degree from Metropolitan School of Nurses in New York. She also earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Early Childhood Education from Randolph Community College. Carol lived her life to the fullest servicing her community as a owner/operator of a state licensed day care (Lullabye Land), owner/operator Home Base Hosiery, foster parent to many of Randolph County, certified GPS MAPP Trainer, Certified MEPA - IEP Recruiter, Certified Non-Violence Crisis Intervention and a real estate agent/broker for Century 21 Real Estate and American Dream Realty. She was a source of knowledge for many as an educator and a faithful member of Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church where she served as a class leader of the Purple Group and member of the Gospel Choir. She was a primary contact for Wesley Chapel helping to organize the annual Fall Festival vendor presence and baking her famous sweet potato pies. She also enjoyed a good game of bingo and scavenger hunt at the local Salvation Army and GoodWill stores. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister's Jessie Cassidy, Teresa Headen, Yvonne Culbreath, brother Verlenon Matthews and lifetime friend Nathan Campbell. She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters, Anita Harris Bullock of Wake Forest, NC, Edwina Harris of Greensboro, NC and Beverly Harris of Charlotte, NC. Her stepchildren, Nathaniel James Campbell, Jr., and Linda Ann Campbell. Sisters, Rosie Blackwell of Greensboro, NC and Doris Headen of Liberty, NC, Connie Harris, Sanford, NC and brothers, Terry Matthews of Asheboro, NC and Gary Louis Matthews of Liberty, NC. Grandchildren, Tamakia Harris, Nicole Bullock, Carlton Jadon Bass, Christopher Bass; and great granddaughter Marley Harris and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Ridge Funeral Home.
