Carol Ann Smith

Ms. Carol Ann Smith, 67, of 1302 Old Cox Road, Asheboro, NC, died Friday, July 5, 2013, at The Randolph Hospice House. A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Monday, July 8, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jon Shook and Rev. Barry Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. A native of Randolph County, NC, Ms. Smith was born November 17, 1945. She was the oldest of ten children of the late Paul James Smith and Ruby Josephine Dickens Smith. She had worked in the cafeteria at Guy B. Teachey Elementary School. She loved cooking, especially chocolate pies, going to church, and helping others. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her sisters, Shirley Collins and Audrey Marie Farrell. Ms. Smith is survived by her son, Jay Hussey and wife, Kathy, of Asheboro; sisters, Martha Long and husband, Jesse, of Denton, Rebecca Cox and husband, Ken, of Asheboro, Catherine Paulette Walters and husband Doug, of Raleigh; brothers, Earl Smith and wife, Margaret, of Franklinville, Aubrey Smith and wife, Kathy, of Asheboro, Richard Smith and wife, Rita, of Franklinville, Keith Smith and wife, Susan, of FL; stepmother, Edith Smith, of Franklinville; and stepsister, Jeannette Burrow and husband Eldon, of Franklinville. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home.
