Rev. Carlee Staley, 92, of Seagrove died Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Piney Ridge United Methodist Church, Seagrove with Rev. Paul Bethel and Rev. James Graves officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by The Randolph County Honor Guard. He was born to Jim Leach and Maye Staley Williams on September 21, 1923. He served in the United States Army from 1943-1946. Rev. Staley was a loving and kind man of God. He served as a lay speaker for many years as a member at Piney Ridge United Methodist Church until his health began to fail. Rev. Staley worked for Burlington Industries for 25 years and retired from Purdue. He was very passionate about driving and continued to drive a school bus after his retirement for 30 plus years. Rev. Staley was married to the love of his life, Mattie Brown Staley, his "brown paper bag" for 68 years. Survivors include his wife, Mattie Staley; children, Barbara Glenn, Wess Staley, Elizabeth Foxx, Cathy McLaughlin, Jerome Staley, Denise McKenzie and Otis Staley. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Piney Ridge United Methodist Church, 4926 Piney Ridge Church Rd., Seagrove, NC 27341. The family would like to extend gratitude and appreciation to the Hospice of Randolph County and Home Sweet Home Care for their services.
