Carl Cameron Needham

Mr. Carl Cameron Needham, 91, of Asheboro, NC, passed on into the presence of the Lord Friday, November 29, 2013, at The Randolph Hospice House. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Monday, December 2, 2013, at Fayetteville Street Baptist Church with Pastors Bruce Dickerson, Leon Wood and Tommy Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Ramseur. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Moore County, NC, Mr. Needham was born June 4, 1922. He was the son of the late Robert Samuel Needham and Hannah Roella Yow Needham. Mr. Needham served in the US Army during World War II. He loved spending time with his family, gardening, and playing golf. He honored his Lord and Savior by being faithful to church and serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He also retired from Union Carbide Corporation after many years of service. In addition to his parents, Mr. Needham was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Lee Cagle Needham; sister, Cleta Needham Coble; and brother, Henry Edward Needham. Mr. Needham is survived by his wife, Hazel Combs Needham, of the home; daughter, Sheila Armstrong and husband, Bob, of Richmond, VA; step-son, Tommy Combs and wife, Thyra, of Palatka, FL; sister, Carrie Needham Brooks, of Ramseur, NC; grandchildren, Robert Armstrong, III and wife, Emily, of Raleigh, NC, Matthew Armstrong, of Raleigh, NC, David Armstrong, of Richmond, VA; step-grandchildren, Andrew Combs, Zachary Combs, and Heather Johnson and husband, Sean, all of Palm Coast, FL; step-great grandchildren, Michaela Johnson, Micah Johnson, Cadence Johnson, Josiah Johnson, all of Palm Coast, FL, Tristan Combs, Tait Combs, both of Arlington, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Sunday, December 1, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
