Carl Gene Latham

Mr. Carl Gene "Crazy Cooter" Latham, 78, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, August 7, 2014, at The Randolph Hospice House. A funeral service is scheduled for 2;00 pm Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clay Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Russell's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Asheboro. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Latham was born July 16, 1936. He was the son of the late Arthur Latham and Hester Cloe Luck Latham. Mr. Latham was a retired dump truck driver for Voncannon Trucking Co. He was a member of Russell's Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Latham; father-in-law, Edward Voncannon; sisters, Edith Jordan, Estelle Jarrell, Shirley Freeman; and brothers, Johnny Latham and Joe Latham. Mr. Latham is survived by his son, Gene Latham, of the home; mother-in-law, Treva Greene, of Asheboro, NC, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Juanita and Joe Loflin, Mike and Gail Cox and Boyd Freemen. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
