Cara Robinson Hammond

Mrs. Cara Robinson Hammond, 80, of Asheboro, NC, died Friday, December 24, 2010, at her residence. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, January 2, 2011, at Flag Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Billy Jarrett and the Rev. George Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Montgomery County, NC, Mrs. Hammond was born July 12, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Lacy Mason Robinson and Mayzella Poole Robinson. Mrs. Hammond was retired from First Southern Savings and Loan and she was a member of Flag Springs United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her brothers, L.M. Robinson, Harvey W. Robinson, Jim Robinson, and her sister, Anna Kelley. Mrs. Hammond is survived by her husband, Rev. J. Harold Hammond, of the home; sons, Mason Gilliland, of Candor, Richard Hammond and wife, Sheila, of Asheboro, Phil Hammond and wife, Diane, of Charlotte; daughter, Susan Hammond and husband, Dave, of Dexter, MI; sister, Belle Covington and husband, Curtis, of Candor, brother, Otho Robinson and wife, Claire, of Candor, Garry Robinson and wife, Faye, of Midland, sisters-in-law, Juanita Robinson, of Candor, Sarah Robinson, of Mt. Gilead; nine grandchildren and sixteen nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.
