A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, November 26, 2012, at Pleasant Union Community Church with Rev. Danny Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Tabor Memorial Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Ridge was born on December 30, 1938, the only child of Clarence C. and Carrie Royals Ridge. He was a member of the Farmer High School Class of 1957. He was a lifelong farmer, raising small grain and beef cattle, and he also worked at Southern States Farm Supply in Asheboro. Other than his farm, his favorite place on earth was the Denton FarmPark, where he showed off his restored Farmall tractors and his grandchildren during the Threshers' Reunion every July. He enjoyed teaching the younger generation about rural traditions, like growing a garden, butchering hogs, and salt-curing country hams. For 31 years, he represented the Jackson Creek Exchange on the Board of Directors of Randolph Telephone Membership Corporation. He also served on the Board of Directors of Central Carolina Bank in Denton. He attended Pleasant Union Community Church and served as Trustee of Mount Tabor Memorial Chapel in Jackson Creek. Mr. Ridge is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carroll Voncannon Ridge, of the home; daughters, Sharon R. Hughes and husband, Jeff, Rhonda R. Maness and husband, John, Deanna R. Parks and husband, Kevin, all of Jackson Creek. His pride and joy were his four grandchildren, Leah and Hannah Hughes, and Kelly and Carson Maness. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Sunday, November 25, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
