Byron Frederick Stickler

Byron Frederick Stickler, 91, of Asheboro, died Thursday, January 7, 2021 at his home. A remote memorial service is planned for 2 pm, January 30th, by meeting invitation. Born on June 9, 1929, in Tioga, PA, Byron was the son of the late Liston Stickler and Irene Smith Stickler. Byron was an author, a pianist and a poet. He was an entrepreneur, opening several businesses throughout his lifetime. He spent the last twenty years of his working career as a commercial roofer in NC. He enjoyed public speaking, sharing his Bible experiences with others, and spending time with his family. True to his name, he was a ‘stickler’ with all his endeavors. He lived his life with great passion and artistic beauty. His gardens and landscaping were pure perfection and his workshops were his favorite retreat. Everything was always impeccably organized and he loved nothing more than being outside working on some new project. He could build anything with his hands and taught his children to do the same. He was a master winemaker and enjoyed nothing more than a glass of wine at the end of the day. He valued hard work and seeing the fruits of his labor. His piano playing was mesmerizing and he poured out his emotions through his music. His loving heart and zest for life will be remembered by all who knew him. His friends included everyone, from CEO’s of large corporations to grocery store clerks. He was humble about his accomplishments, but a man of grace, honesty, and compassion. There will never be another quite like him and he will be missed. Surviving are his wife, Wilda J. Stickler; daughters, Sheila Butera, Sonia Suhr & husband - Bill, Lisa Linker & husband - Vernon, Nancy Chriscoe & husband - Robert; sons, Mike Stickler & wife - Deborah, David Stickler & wife - Julie, Daniel Stickler & wife Tammy, and Tim Stickler & wife - Beth, 14 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
