Bridget Ferguson Gallimore, 70, of Asheboro, passed away Friday, May 1, 2026, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, 908 Albemarle Road, Asheboro, NC 27203, with Rev. Rick McCranie officiating.
Born on December 26, 1955 in Asheboro, NC, Bridget was a 1974 graduate of Randleman High School. Her career was in the community college systems, she worked at Randolph Community College from 1976 to 2000 and retired from Guilford Technical Community College in 2005. She was also the co-owner of Gallimore Family Investments and a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker.
Bridget was, at her core, a caregiver. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a nurse—the idea of offering comfort to people in their most vulnerable moments deeply resonated with her. Though that path wasn’t the one she ultimately followed, she lived out that calling in her own way, giving of herself to others whenever they needed it most. When life became difficult, you could always count on her to be there—with a helping hand, a listening ear, and steady support.
She was also wonderfully creative. Whether she was painting sweatshirts as a Girl Scout leader, sewing quilts for loved ones, sketching floor plans for a new building, or selecting just the right paint and carpet for a restored home, she had a gift for seeing possibilities and bringing them to life. She could envision the finished picture and patiently put every piece into place.
Bridget was also known for her strong will. She had her own way of doing things—her plans, her organization, her sense of how everything should unfold. And if those plans changed, you certainly heard about it. She knew exactly what she liked and didn’t like, and she never hesitated to say so. These are the very things her family will smile and laugh about most—the little quirks that may have tested patience in the moment but became some of the most treasured memories over time.
Though her playful side didn’t always show itself, it shone brightly when she was with her grandchildren. Time with them brought out her warmth and joy, revealing a lighter, more carefree part of her that was deeply cherished.
She will be profoundly missed. She fought a long and difficult battle with cancer until the very end, with remarkable strength and courage. She was brave, she was tough—and there is no question that she faced it all with unwavering determination.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lacy Ferguson, Jr. and Ruby Cox Morris.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Kenneth Parks Gallimore; daughter, Erin Gallimore (John Hinson) of Raleigh; son, Kevin Gallimore (Angie) of Asheboro; sister, Cynthia Boroughs (Ashley) of North Topsail Beach, NC; brother, Greg Ferguson (Donna) of Randleman; and grandchildren, Rainy Hinson, Evie Hinson, Adam Thomas, and Abby Thomas.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2006, at Ridge Funeral Home in Asheboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203, or https://www.hospiceofrandolph.org/donate/.
