Boyd Freeman, 83, of Hoffman, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at his home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, 2022, at Asbury Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Rev. Wayne Bryson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Boyd was born on January 1, 1939, in Unicoi, TN, to the late Curtis and Mattie Shehan Freeman. Mr. Freeman proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a land surveyor and was the former owner of Seagrove Family Restaurant and Freeman Furniture Refinishing and Antiques. Boyd enjoyed fishing and gardening in his spare time. In addition to his parents, Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Freeman; son, Dean Freeman; daughters, Tina Freeman, Dawn Bedsaul; sister, Janet Johnson; and brother, Junior Freeman. He is survived by his sons, Harvey Freeman, Jay Pruitt, both of Hoffman; daughter, Bonnie Freeman of Sacramento, CA; sister, Joann Peterson, of Fond Du Lac, WI; brother-in-law, Garland Johnson of Asheboro; seven grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, 2022, at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 North US Hwy 1, Rockingham, NC 28379.
