Bobby Joyce

Robert Taylor "Bobby" Joyce, 73, of Asheboro, NC, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro, after a short illness. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro with Pastors David and Deborah Garner and Chris Sheffield officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. A native of Randolph County, Mr. Joyce was born March 5, 1943, the son of the late George and Myrtle Joyce. He had attended Coleridge and Randleman schools. He was retired from Commonwealth Hosiery in Randleman. When he and his wife, Peggy, were younger, he rearranged his work schedules so Peggy could graduate from two colleges. Her Dean of Nursing said he deserved a degree for helping Peggy. He liked going to car shows and NASCAR races with his son, Tommy. He loved going to baseball games and watching his son, Tony, coach and umpire baseball. He thoroughly enjoyed watching American Legion Regional Baseball Tournament in August at McCrary Park. He also enjoyed listening to WKXR radio high school and American Legion Baseball with Tony Wright and crew. He was a member of First Assembly for over 30 years and now enjoyed attending Victory Fellowship Church and loved Jesus. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was very much loved and will be missed so much. In addition to his parents, Mr. Joyce was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Joyce, and sister, Nancy Jernergan. He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Peggy Purvis Joyce of the home; sons, Timothy Joyce of Ramseur, Tony Joyce and wife, Kim, of Asheboro, Thomas Joyce and wife, Crystal, of Asheboro; grandchildren, Amy Yeager and husband, Cory, of Burke, VA, Andrew Joyce and wife, April, of Liberty, Alice Renee Parsons and husband, Dustin, of Pleasant Garden, Emma Geubtner of Ramseur, Brett Joyce and wife, Janelle of Asheboro, Emily Hill and husband, Arran, of Liberty, Alex Joyce, Eric Joyce, Ashley Joyce, Alexis Wirt, Sarah Booth, Chloe Wirt, all of Asheboro; and nine great grandchildren. The family will receive from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Ridge Funeral Home.
