Billy Ray Greene

Billy Ray Greene, 90, of Asheboro, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2019, at Alpine Health and Rehabilitation in Asheboro. Graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2019, at Randolph Memorial Park, with Rev. John Bryant officiating, with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Born on March 23, 1929, in Cumberland Co., NC, to the late Samuel Ray Greene and Sally Bowls Greene. Mr. Greene was retired from Union Carbide and had served in the U.S. Army during Korea. While in service he earned medals such as the Korean Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge. In addition to his parents, Mr. Greene was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise McPheson Greene. Surviving are his sisters, Emily G. Fetner of Carlisle, PA, Elizabeth G. Leviner and husband George of Troy, NC; brother, Richard M. Greene and wife Judith of Riegelwood, NC; caregivers, Orvel and Sharon Brown, and Pamela Ritter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, prior to the service.
