Billie Sue Vuncannon

September 17, 1938 — December 6, 2022

Billie Sue Stone Vuncannon, 84, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.


Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Chaplain Tim Pheagin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home.


Born on September 17, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio, Billie was the daughter of the late William Jess Stone and Edna Carol Taylor Stone. She graduated from Asheboro High School, Wingate University, and with honors from the Bowman Gray School Nursing. Billie also received an associates degree in business administration from St. Joseph's University.


Billie was instrumental in establishing Hospice of Randolph County. She was both the first employee and the first to serve as CEO. She was a past member of ABWA and Asheboro Rotary Club. Billie loved going to the beach, gardening and most importantly her family.


In addition to her parents, Billie was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Tony Rain Vuncannon.


Surviving are daughters, Susan A. Vuncannon, Ranette Vuncannon Rodden (James); sister, Barbara Lou Stone Greer (Charles); half sister, Sally Blevins; grandchildren, Hannah M. Rodden, Daniel R. Rodden; great grandchildren, Elijah Ronald Rodden and Isabella Sue Rodden; and several nieces and nephews.
