William Carmen "Bill" Maturi, 69, of Asheboro, NC, died Sunday, November 16, 2014 at his home. No services are planned at this time. Born in Trenton, NJ, Bill was the son of the late Carmen J. and Jane E. Maturi. He graduated from Ewing High in 1962 and was a decorated US Navy Veteran who served during the Vietnam era. Bill was an Eagle Scout with Troop 90 Ewing. He was a past member of the Pennington Road Fire Department, Liberty Rescue Squad, Ewing Township Police Reserve, PBA 105 with the Department of Corrections, and BPOE 105 of Trenton. Bill moved to Bradenton, FL in 1975 and began his career in Emergency Services. He was a Florida State Certified EMT, CFR, and firefighter. He retired in 1992 as Deputy Fire Chief of the Cedar Hammock Fire Department, Bradenton, FL. Bill served as chairman of the Fire Science Advisory Board of Manatee College and Vocational School as well as Adjunct Faculty Member. He also held a gubernatorial appointment as Fire Commissioner. He served as Manatee County Fire Services Disaster Coordinator. Mr. Maturi is survived by his wife, Linda, two daughters, Lisa Humphrey, of Burlington, NJ, Michele Dugan, of Trenton, NJ, and one grandchild, Brittany Szafran, of Delaware.
