Bill Campbell

Mr. Billy Joe Campbell, 74, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at his residence. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jill King officiating. Burial will be at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. A native of Guilford County, NC, Mr. Campbell was born July 14, 1936. He was the son of the late Fred Campbell and Mary Lee Burke Campbell. He retired from General Electric/Black & Decker and had served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was an avid NASCAR fan and former drag racer, driving the '57 Chevy "Goldrush."� He was a dedicated member of the Qualiteers Club and supporter of numerous charities, including Hospice of Randolph County. Bill was a devoted husband to Bonita and dedicated friend to many. Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife, Bonita Spencer Campbell, of the home; sister-in-law and husband, Betty and Joe Copple, of Asheboro; special children, Donnie Copple, of Asheboro, Randy and Cathy Brady, of Asheboro, and Karen Routh, of Randleman. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Friday, May 20, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph County, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. John Cameron and staff for all of their dedicated to service.
