Bill Anderson

Mr. William "Bill"� Thomas Anderson, 78, of Asheboro, NC, died Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Hunt and Rev. Raeford Brim officiating. Burial will follow at Huldah Baptist Church Cemetery in Asheboro, with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Robeson County, NC, Mr. Anderson was born January 31, 1935. He was the son of the late Carley Anderson and Elois Britt Nobles. He served in the US Navy aboard a US naval destroyer, where he was a radio operator. He coached girl's basketball, officiated football games, and refereed basketball for high school and college in Atlanta. In Atlanta he participated in the senior leagues of softball and bowling. Bill retired from General Motors and after retirement he was a driver for Fine Line Hosiery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Brim Anderson and his stepfather, B.J. Nobles. Mr. Anderson is survived by daughter, Donna, of TX; granddaughter, Ruby; sister, Becky Shipman and husband, Clyde, of Newbern, NC; brother, Frankie Nobles and wife Beverly, of Cumming, GA; brother-in-law, Mitch Mitchell; sister-in"�law, Betty Rich and husband Frank; mother-in-law, Esther Ward, nieces, Lisa Elliott and family, Chris Cockman, Johanna Barker, Sharalyn Nobles, nephews, Bryan Luffman, and family, Joel Luffman and family, Matt Cockman and family, Mark Cockman and family; and special friend, Nellie Stafford. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of his niece, Lisa Elliott, 1248 Muriel Lane, Asheboro.
