Beverly Broome Coker Sink, age 76, of Asheboro, NC was released from her battle with Alzheimer's in the early hours of Monday morning, March 18, 2019. She died peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family at Universal Health Care in Ramseur, NC. She was born in Panama City, FL; the daughter of the late Carl Windsor Broome and Myrle Blythe Churchill Broome. She grew up in Washington State and graduated from University of Washington with a BA Degree in Teaching. She taught many grades in many states, including Washington, California, Georgia, and North Carolina. She spent a total of 40 years as a teacher, with her last 25 years as a Kindergarten teacher at Farmer Elementary, where she retired in 2006. Surviving are her husband, Jim Sink of the home; son, Warren Coker and wife Mary Beth of Colorado Springs, CO; daughters, Christine Ballenger and husband Chris of Marion, VA; Karen Coker Merritt and husband, Gregory of Eustis, FL. Also surviving are her brother Will Broome of Eugene, Oregon, her step-brother Les Thein, of Gig Harbor, WA, and her cousin Ray Cassidy of Seattle, WA. Beverly is survived by three grandchildren: Tabor Kistler, 16; Hannah Ballenger, 13; and Calvin Merritt, 4. The family will hold a private service to spread her ashes, in keeping with Beverly's wishes. Details regarding a public celebration of Beverly's life are still pending; this will be announced at a later date through an amended obituary and the Facebook page listed below. Beverly was a light to all who met her. Her teaching—and accordingly, her hugs—will be remembered forever. She loved music and possessed a beautiful soprano voice. She loved her horses, dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, and truly all of God's creatures. Most importantly, Beverly LOVED, and she was loved in return. We mourn her loss, yet we celebrate her release from earthly bonds. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Western Carolina Chapter: https://www.alz.org/northcarolina/donate (or 4600 Park Rd., Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.)
