Betty McDowell Petty, 83, of Franklinville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Gray's Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Jacob Kyker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born February 26, 1935 in Randolph County, Mrs. Petty was the daughter of the late John Allen and Ola Cox McDowell. She was a member of Gray's Chapel United Methodist Church, attended Valley of Blessing Messianic Congregation and taught Sunday School at Central Falls United Methodist Church. Mrs. Petty was a faithful servant of God. Mrs. Petty worked at Bossong Hosiery and was a poultry farmer. She took pride in her rose garden and enjoyed sharing her bouquets with the community. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Curtis Coble. Survivors include her husband, George Petty of the home; daughter, Anna Parrish of Climax; son, Bradley Curtis Coble of Climax; stepdaughters, Sara Nelson and husband, Brian of Lexington, Kristin Adams and husband, EB of Greensboro; stepson, Greg Petty and wife, Beth of Jamestown; sister, Linda Bonkemeyer and husband, Charles of Asheboro; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 p.m. Saturday at the church, prior to the service and other times at the home.
