Betty Jean Yates McElreath, 83, of Trinity, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Woodland Hill Center in Asheboro. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Junior Summey and Rev. Fred Huffstetler officiating. Burial will follow at Pierce's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Betty was born on February 25, 1938, in Randolph Co. to the late John William Yates and Virgie Louise Gallimore Yates. She retired from Sew Special. She was a loving sister and an aunt to many. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her Husband Hoyt McElreath; and brother, Billy Joe Yates. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Mitchell and husband Wesley of Asheboro; sister-in-law, Vickie Yates; nieces and nephews, Jack Mitchell of Jackson Creek, Denise Davis and husband David of Randleman, Greg Yates and wife Michelle of Lexington, Christy McGuire of Lexington; great nieces and nephews, Caroline Davis, Hannah Davis, Ashley Pyne and husband Cody, Derrick Yates, Stephanie Seay and husband Michael, Javan McGuire and wife Taylor, Charity Johnson and husband Baylen, Bethany Yates, and Bethany Barton. Mrs. McElreath will lie in repose from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 3, 2021 at Ridge Funeral Home.
