Betty Jean Lanier Hammer, 88, of Asheboro, died Monday, August 23, 2021 at High Point Medical Center in High Point. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at High Pine Wesleyan Church Cemetery, with Rev. Arnold Luther officiating. Born in Randolph Co., on June 23, 1933, Betty was the daughter of the late Edgar Ellis Lanier and Lora Mae Williams Lanier. She was a graduate of Seagrove High School, class of 1952 and retired from GE / Black & Decker after more than 44 years. She was a member of High Pine Wesleyan Church, where she taught the young people's Sunday school class, was director of the Wesleyan Youth Group, YMB Director, president of the WMS, and Bible school volunteer. She also served on the board of directors for the Christmas program and was the Sunday school secretary for several years. She was a devoted, Christian lady. Betty, in addition to her parents was preceded in death by her husband, John Causey "J.C." Hammer Jr.; sisters, Zelma King, Emma Lou Farlow, Ola Mae Trogdon; brothers, Wayne Lanier, Clifford Lanier, and Lowell Lanier. She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Needham; son, Randy C. Loflin (Patricia); grandchildren, Jeffrey Needham, Kristy Bennett, Gill Ruihz, Kevin Loflin, Miranda Harris; great grandchildren, Jordin Needham, Camden Needham, Gatlin Brown, Madilyn Poole, Skyler Loflin, Peyton Callicutt, and Jase Loflin. Mrs. Hammer will lie in repose from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Ridge Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to High Pine Wesleyan Church, 4492 High Pine Church Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205; or a charity of the donors choice.
