Betty Jean Liles Blake, 84, of Asheboro, died Friday, August 23, 2019 at North Pointe of Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 30, 2019, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro with Pastor Mackie Walters officiating. Burial will follow the service at Norman Cemetery. Born on April 17, 1935 in Richmond Co., Betty was the daughter of the late James Thomas Liles and Irene Virginia Byrd Liles. She was a member of Church of God of Prophecy. She was owner and operator of Betty's Beauty Shop, and was retired from Mid-State Plastic. Betty enjoyed community events and was instrumental in raising money to build and open the Happy Hollow Community Center. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blake was preceded in death by her husband Charles Edward Blake, Sr. and her brothers Ralph Thomas Liles, Billy Dean Liles, Jimmy David Liles, and Johnny Steven Blake. Surviving are her daughters, Regina Blake Johnson and husband Darren of Randleman, Wendy Blake Thompson and husband Wyatt of Asheboro; sisters, Sandra Baldwin and husband Tony of Rockingham, Phyllis Sedberry of Albemarle; brothers, James Marvin Liles, Richard Blake and wife Carol of Rockingham; grandchildren, Jessica Michelle Hogan, Matthew Blake Johnson, Jered Wyatt Thompson, Jordan Brooke Thompson, Emily Nicole Johnson, Jenna Marie Thompson; as well as several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 29, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of Wendy and Wyatt Thompson.
