Bertha Bowman

Bertha Louise Hill Bowman, 78, of Asheboro, died Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Woodland Hill Center in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Beane officiating. A native of Randolph County, Mrs. Bowman was born October 20, 1939, the daughter of the late Reitsel and Mildred Hill. She retired from Hop's BBQ, but had also worked at Golden Waffle, Melvin's Drive In and Blue Mist BBQ. Mrs. Bowman was a member of the Asheboro Moose Lodge. She was an avid NASCAR fan and her favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Mrs. Bowman was a "true blue" Tarheel and loved Elvis. Survivors include her daughters, Jamie Leonard (Russell) of Asheboro, Julie Bowman (Rick Icenhower) of Carolina Beach; son, Herbie Bowman of Asheboro; sisters, Darnell Brown (Bruce) of Asheboro, Susan Allred (Jimmy) of Georgia; brothers, Wilbur Hill (Doris), Timothy Hill, all of Asheboro; grandchildren, Scott Leonard, Traci Leonard, Alisha Hicks, Christopher Fultz, Jessica Hodge (Chad), Casie Bowman, Kayla Bowman, Dillon Bowman; and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of Jamie and Russell Leonard, 404 McKnight St., Asheboro.
