Berta Cox Spencer

Berta Mae Cox Spencer, 82, of Asheboro, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 28, 2016, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mark Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Baptist Church Cemetery. A native of Randolph County, Mrs. Spencer was born April 27, 1933, the daughter of the late Vertis and Virtle Cox. She was retired from BB Walker after 40 years of service and enjoyed working at Chick-fil-A for several years after her retirement. Mrs. Spencer loved the Lord and loved to tell others about her Savior. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She often did without to be sure her boys were well cared for. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Alex Spencer,Jr. Mrs. Spencer is survived by her sons, Alfred "Lynn" Spencer and wife, Patricia, of Asheboro, Rev. Mark Henry Spencer and wife, Penny, of Randleman; sisters, Charlene Maness of Bear Creek, Mildred Hoover and husband, Ed, of Franklinville, Emogene Marley of Seagrove; brothers, Recil Cox and wife, Becky, of Asheboro, Cleo Cox and wife, Kathleen, of Bennett, Laven Cox and wife, Doris, of Seagrove;, grandchildren, Todd Spencer and wife, Stephanie, Hannah Reeder and husband, Todd, Rebecca Stewart and husband, Jeremiah, Rachel Spencer, Owen Spencer; and great-grandchildren, Stephen Spencer, Kayla Spencer, Ethan Cruce, Waylon Stewart and Lilly Hoffman. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
