Bernard Antonio Caruso, 92, of Seagrove, died Sunday, April 23, 2017 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with Mr. Daniel Oldham officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Born December 20, 1924 in Washington, D.C., Mr. Caruso was the son of the late Tony and Mary Caruso. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Caruso served as a combat medic in India-Burma theater during World War II. He belonged to the Civil Air Patrol and was a licensed pilot. Mr. Caruso worked for the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C. for 18 years. He also worked for Corning and Phillips Glass Factory for 20 years. Mr. Caruso was a member of the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine located in Washington, D.C. Mr. Caruso and his wife of 27 years, Cecilia had resided in the Philippines along with their two dogs, Sumo and Betsy. He is also survived by many extended family members. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Ridge Funeral Home.
