Mrs. Beatrice Ruby Greene Nance, 99, of Greensboro, NC, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Blumenthal Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation. A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Oaklawn Cemetery with Rev. Ken Thames and Rev. Pat Thames officiating. A native of Alleghany County, NC, Mrs. Nance was born July 18, 1913. She was the daughter of the late Wiley James Greene and Celia Ann Chappell Greene. She grew up and attended school in Sparta, NC. School only had 8 grades and she took the 8th year twice because she liked it so much and didn't want it to end. She received her L.P.N. through Randolph Hospital by attended night school while she worked during the day at Acme-McCrary Hosiery. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nance was preceded in death by her first husband, John Quincy Ball, and second husband, Dempsey Nance. Beatrice was a member of Asheboro Friends Meeting since 1961. She had a great love of animals, both wild and pets. Sometimes wild animals would become pets! She also had a great love for the beach and Ford Mustangs. She was an exceptional "horse trader"� as all her neighbors will attest. Mrs. Nance is survived by her daughter, Helen Wray and husband, Les, of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren. Sandra DeWese, Johnny Humble; great grandchildren, Will, Nicole and Ashlyn. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home.
