Beachel Jennings "B.J." Marion, 98, of Troy, died Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, October 20, 2019, at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, Asheboro, with Rev. Brian Faircloth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born on September 1, 1921, in Surry County, NC, Mr. Marion was the son of the Earlie Marion and Rossie Poindexter Marion. He worked for Ridge McDowell Funeral Service as an ambulance driver. Mr. Marion was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He served in the US Army during WW II and survived Pearl Harbor. On Veteran Day in 2018, he was recognized by the National Quilts of Valor Foundation. He also had a flag flown over the Capital Building in his honor in July of this year. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Luther Marion, his grandson, James Jones, Jr. and three sisters and two brothers. Surviving are his daughters, Faye Marion Hubbard and husband Kenneth of Troy, Patsy Marion Charles of Lexington; sons, Dean Marion and wife Bonnie of Troy, Bobby Marion and wife Patsy of Trinity, Earlie Marion and wife Carol of Archdale; sister, Georgia Wood of Dobson, NC; grandchildren, Scotty Marion and wife Tracey of Randleman, Beverly Snider and husband Mark of Denton, Johnny Marion and wife Brenda of Randleman, Jeffrey Charles of Mooresville, Michael Marion and wife Tonya of Denton, Kim Moorefield and husband Brandon of Lexington, Doug Marion of Huntersville, Derick Marion of Archdale, Tonya Medford of Greenville, SC, Dawn Jones of Archdale, Renee Markham and husband Billy of Archdale; 27 great grandchildren, and 24 great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday October 19, 2019, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
