Barney Phillips

Mr. Barney George Phillips, 67, of Asheboro, NC, died Friday, December 28, 2012, at his residence. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, December 30, 2012, at Richland Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Phillips was born February 5, 1945. He was the son of the late George Dewey Phillips and Bessie Owens Phillips. Mr. Phillips loved going to flea markets, playing guitar, watching car races, and restoring old cars. He also enjoyed woodcrafts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Max Lee Phillips. Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife, Teresa Hinson Phillips, of the home; daughters, Donna Hall, of Asheboro, NC, Wanda Sue Wiggins and husband, Bill, of Rockingham, NC; son, Doyle Lee Phillips and wife, Amanda, of Carthage, NC; sister, Cotoy Jean Copen, of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Steven Furr, Natalie Nicole Lineberrier, Jonathan Biddix, Taylor Biddix, Joshua Biddix, Stephanie Phillips, Nicholas Phillips, Alyson Phillips; step grandchildren, Aaron Wiggins, Austin Wiggins; and great grandchild, Logan Riley Biddix. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Sunday, December 30, 2012, at Richland Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.
