Barbara A. Voncannon

Barbara Allen Voncannon, 79, of Asheboro, died Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Sandy Ridge Memory Care in Candor. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Panther Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Huttleston and Pastor Charles Phelps officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born July 11, 1937 in Montgomery County, Mrs. Voncannon was the daughter of the late John and Leola Allen. She was as member of Panther Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Black & Decker. Mrs. Voncannon served as a board member for the Seagrove Public Library and Seagrove Pottery. She volunteered for many organizations. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, James W. Voncannon of the home; daughters, Janet V. Williams (Randy), Phyllis Hunt (Mark), all of Asheboro; son, Vance Voncannon (Kathy) of Sophia; sister, Joyce Ann Garner (Roy) of Asheboro; brother, J.C. Allen of Asheboro; grandchildren, Sherrie Jordan (Chuck), Jeremy Williams (Alisha), Bodie Cook (Sharon), Lee Cook (Shelly), Todd Cook (Tabby), Ashley McGraw (Brian) Casie Copple (Anthony), Corey Hunt (fianceé, Hannah Hill); 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
