Barbara Lee Spinks, 75, of Robbins, formerly of Asheboro, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at FirstHealth Hospice & Palliative Care in West End. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Bishop J. Harold Williams officiating. The burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Born in Randolph County, NC on April 28, 1946, Barbara was the daughter of the late James William Spinks and Margie Cheek Spinks. Barbara was part of the last graduating class of Central High School in Asheboro. She retired from Energizer after 35 years of service. Barbara attended First Assembly and loved reading the Bible. She was a caregiver to her mother for over 20 years. She also enjoyed watching Christian TV shows, westerns and football, specially the Panthers and Steelers. Barbara always believed in helping people and didn’t hesitate to give to those in need, especially her family. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, mother-in-law and grandma. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brothers, Roger “Tony” Spinks and Terry Spinks. Surviving are her daughter, Tonika Newby Jefferson (Travis) of Robbins; sisters, Marie Belle of Asheboro, Rebecca Spinks Ross (Lacy) of Maiden, Patricia Covington (Larry) of Asheboro; brother, Bill Spinks of Asheboro; grandchildren, Travis Jefferson, Jr., Trais Jefferson; Godchildren, Angela Ross Ingram, David Wood, and Althea Wood. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Ridge Funeral Home prior to the service.
