Barbara Simmons

Barbara Ann Ryder Simmons, 80, of Liberty, passed away, Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at her home. Born on January 4, 1940, in Roanoke, VA, Barbara was the daughter of the late Roy Jackson Ryder and Cecil Fletcher Ryder. She had retired from Randolph Knitting and Interim HealthCare. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, painting and gardening. She loved to walk and work on puzzles. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lee Simmons. Surviving are her daughters, Tammy Lowe (Kenneth) of Franklinville, Dreama Rahimipour (Ahmad) of Charlotte, Jennifer Duncan (Allan) of Liberty; sons, Larry Simmons (Becky) of Asheville, Lee Simmons (Lynn Evans) of Asheboro; sisters, Darlene Garmen of Salem, VA, Linda Hunnell of Roanoke, VA; half brother, Roy Dwayne Ryder; grandchildren, Victoria Gibson (Bobby), Brody Lowe, Vincent Simmons, Laura Beth Hunter (Darren), Kristen Murray (Chris), Roya Rahimipour, Brittany Walker (Dustin), Cody Simmons (Desiree Coltrane), Justin Simmons (Lauren Walters), Joey Evans (Paige), Rayford Duncan (Haley), Kenneth Duncan (Madison); and 17 great grandchildren. Due to restrictions for group gatherings, services will be private. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.
