Arlethia Spruill Cox, 78, of 1040 Uwharrie Street, Asheboro, NC, died Friday, August 6, 2010, at Beacon Place in Greensboro. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2010, at Calvary Pentecostal Church with Pastor Stacy Garnett officiating. Born on July 5, 1932, Mrs. Cox was the daughter of the late John and Maggie Watkins Spruill. She was a long time member of Emmanuel Holiness Church. She always did domestic work and she loved and all people. She never saw skin color and would so anything for anybody. She loved church and doing work in the church. She was preceded in death by her sister, Cora Spruill, and brothers, James Spruill, Earl Spruill, Tampa Ray Spruill, and Ed Spruill, Jr. Surviving are her son, Walter Spruill (Rene) of the home; sisters, Maxine Baldwin, of Asheboro, Catherine Spruill, Clementine Beck (Nathaniel) all of Ellerbe; brothers, Colon Spruill (Cleo), of Ellerbe, John Henry Spruill (Peaka), of Winston-Salem; half sisters, Carrie Mae Little, Ethel Crouch, both of High Point; 8 step children; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
