Annie Bell Dunn Spencer, of Asheboro, died Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Randolph Health in Asheboro.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Journey Church, Asheboro, with Pastor Michael L. Grier, Sr. and Minister Cedric Cassady, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Asheboro.
Mrs. Spencer was born to the late John and Annie Hicks Dunn in the town of Star, in Montgomery Co., NC. She attended school in Biscoe, NC, and later furthered her education after moving to Asheboro, NC, in 1952.
While working in a restaurant, she met the love of her life, Mr. Ervin A. Spencer. He was dressed in Army fatigues, looking sharp, and that what caught her eye. They were married in 1959 which lasted 48 years until his death. To this union five children were born.
Annie professed her life to Christ at an early age. She loved the Lord and loved reading her bible. She was very committed to living for Christ and telling others about the gospel. Annie took pleasure in attending church functions, singing programs, listening to quartet gospel groups, and traveling. In addition to that she loved spending time with family, laughter and telling stories of her childhood.
She had a real passion for children and was amused at the things they said and did. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend. "To know her was to love her," always thinking of others.
In earlier years she worked cooking at Central School cafeteria, and later worked for Acme-McCrary Hosiery Mill for 32 years.
Living life to the fullest was a goal of hers. She had a God given talent of singing with a beautiful, angelic voice. Annie often sang the song "Heaven is a beautiful place" and now can sing and rejoice in the great Heavenly choir.
She leaves to cherished her memories are her three daughters, Mary Ann Patterson (Christopher) of Randleman, NC, Janet Spencer Jaimes, Angela Spencer, both of Asheboro, NC; one son, Ervin Junior Spencer of Asheboro, NC; brother, Duncan Dunn of Candor, NC; 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Annie was preceded in death her son, Douglas Curtis Spencer.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, at Journey Church prior to the funeral service.
We give thanks and appreciation to everyone who has helped us through this difficult time. Thank you for your acts of kindness, all prayers, cards and flowers, and food. May God continue to richly bless each of you.
