Anna Marie Smith

Anna Marie Smith was born on December 27, 1927 and passed away peacefully on October 24, 2026 at the age of 98 years, just 2 months shy of her 99th birthday. Anna was the daughter of Vivian and Hugh Smith of Siler City, NC. Anna found immense joy in the simple, everyday tasks of tending to her garden, gathering with close family members for the holidays, reading, writing poetry and short stories, listening to music and working on needle point. She loved being close to nature, hiking and camping and other outdoor activities with her family when she was younger. Anna was a wonderful loving mother who taught her children to be strong and kind to others and animals. Anna lived a life full of grace, a deep love for her family and the people around her. Through her warm, sweet smile or her quiet strength, she left an unforgettable impression on everyone who knew her. Anna lived life to its fullest and was blessed with a long and vibrant life. She was known to sometimes be adventurous like when she celebrated her 65th birthday by skydiving.

Anna always seemed to defy the odds of her numerous health issues with tremendous strength and a strong determination to bounce back. She did not give up easily. Anna will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love, friendship and kindred spirit will live forever in the hearts of all those who knew her.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, a half-sister Virginia McGinnis and half-brother Wrenn Brewer; brothers: Heiskell Smith, Roman Smith and Clayton Smith.

Anna is survived by her brother, Leonard Smith (Glenda); two daughters: Reba Cutting (Rich) and Lila Kimsley; 2 grandchildren: Joshua Hodgin (Kellie) and Bailey Bruce (Will); and 4 grandchildren.
