She attended Asheboro schools and worked at the Blue Mist Restaurant for many years. It was there she met her first husband of more than fifty years, Jack Johnson. Early in their marriage, they lived in New Jersey while Jack completed his military service, and then, they moved to Florida. Their only child, Phyllis Roanna, was laid to rest in Fort Lauderdale when she was only six days old. Later, Nina Johnson, Jack's youngest sister, came to live with them at the age of nine, and has since remained a heart-adopted daughter. Throughout her working career, Anna Lee became well known for preparing and hosting enumerable receptions, weddings, anniversaries, and parties. In the 1970s, Anna Lee and Jack moved to Charleston, SC where they lived for more than two decades. She was a member of the James Island Baptist Church, and enjoyed working with the James Island Women's Garden Club. She continued her culinary endeavors and prepared her famous cheesecakes for the Battery Carriage House Inn. There, she heart-adopted John Stewart who remained a life-long friend. In the last couple of decades of their lives together, Jack and Anna Lee moved back to Asheboro, NC. She became a member of First Baptist Church, and participated in the activities of the Women's Club of Asheboro. In that time, she found a special friend, Tim Burrow, whom she called her heart-adopted son, also. In addition to her catering, she and Jack, Brenda and Stewart Johnson, who played guitar, and sister, Elizabeth Buchanan, formed a gospel singing group, know as the Johnson Singers. The quintet presented gospel concerts as local churches and assisted living homes. Following the death of Jack Johnson, Anna Lee married James Hubert Brower of Randleman, NC. They resided in her home place on Carolina Avenue until Jim's death in 2013. Ann Lee was preceded in death by her mother and father; three brothers, Lewis Dolph Pritchard, Lester Edwin Pritchard, and Cletus Truman Pritchard; sister, Margaret Pritchard Benedict. She is survived by Nina Johnson Wallace (Gary) and three sisters from her mother's second marriage to Ernest Clyde Spoon; Phyllis Spoon Palmer (Bernard) of Lexington, SC; Sara Spoon Glover (Clarence) of Charleston, SC; and Elizabeth Spoon Buchanan of Condéon, France and Asheboro, NC. There are numerous surviving nephews, nieces, and cousins, who dearly loved their Aunt Anna Lee. They, like all those who knew her, saw reflected in her daily life, a Godly woman with an easy smile, and a gentle spirit of kindness and generosity. The family will receive friends 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., prior to the funeral service at Ridge Funeral Home.
