Alta Allen

Alta Lou Brown Allen, 94, of Seagrove, NC, died Friday, November 28, 2014 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at Whynot Wesleyan Church, where she was a charter member, with Rev. Darrell Scruggs officiating. Burial will follow at Union Grove Christian Church Cemetery, Asheboro, NC. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Allen was born March 12, 1920, the daughter of the late Clauda and Della Hancock Brown. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Johnie Howard Allen, son, Johnie Ray Allen, three sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Allen is survived by her daughters, Barbara Luther and husband, Robert, of Seagrove, NC, Betty Miller and husband, Gary, of Star, NC, Ann Moffitt and husband, Diffie, of Seagrove, NC; son, Tim Allen and wife, Pam, of Seagrove, NC; grandchildren, Sherry Allen and husband, John, of Greensboro, NC, Dana Shetzler and husband, Jim, of Winston-Salem, NC, Andrea Overfield and husband, Keith, of Raleigh, NC, Ty Miller and wife, Dawn, of Bluffton, SC; step-grandchildren, Bryan Cagle, of Cameron, NC, Buddy Fields, of Cameron, NC; 10 great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2014 at Ridge Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Asheboro, NC, and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Whynot Wesleyan Church, 1402 NC Highway 705 East, Seagrove, NC, or to PruittHealth Hospice, 902 W. D. Street, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
