Alson 'Bobby' Mcdowell

Alson Andy " Bobby" McDowell, of Denton and formerly of 1548 Ridges Mt. Rd, Asheboro, died Friday, May 24, 2019, at his residence at 7842 Jackson Creek Road, Denton, NC. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, May 27, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with Ken McDowell and son, Johnny McDowell officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Union Community Church Cemetery. Born in Randolph County, NC, on June 4, 1932, Bobby was the son of the late Gurney McDowell and Myrtle Garren McDowell. He worked at Burlington Industries, McDowell Lumber Company, and Walls Lumber Company. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding 4-wheelers, spending time with his grandchildren and hauling scrap. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Viola Mae Ingram McDowell; daughters, Betty Thompson, Mary Lou McDowell; brother, Henry "Pete" W. McDowell. Surviving are his daughter, Judy Jones of Sophia; sons, Billy McDowell and wife Eleanor of Denton, Johnny McDowell and wife Kimberly of Lexington; grandchildren, Buddy McDowell and wife Candace, Crystal Thompson and significant other Johnny, Tommy McDowell and wife Angel, Jimmy McDowell and wife Andrea, Matthew McDowell, Danny McDowell, Jonathan McDowell and wife Allison, Shea Farabee, Travis McDuffie and wife Mary; 24 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home, 7842 Jackson Creek Road, Denton, NC.
