Nola Allene Loflin McDowell, 102, of Asheboro, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Pleasant Union Community Church Cemetery, with Rev. Danny Miller officiating. Allene was born on January 17, 1919, in Randolph County. She graduated from Farmer High School, and attended Pleasant Union Community Church were she was very active. Allene was an excellent cook, and she enjoyed crocheting, quilting and needle work. She had a strong love for her family and her faith in God never waivered. She had a green thumb and a love for her flowers. Allene was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, John Alvin McDowell; parents, David Leonard Loflin and Ethel Smith Loflin; brothers, Henry Clay Loflin, Clifford Hoyt Loflin, Robert Leonard Loflin; sister, Cleo Loflin Munn. She is survived by her sons, John Larry McDowell and wife Glenda of Asheboro, David Lenvil McDowell and wife Bobbi of Asheboro; grandsons, Jonathon Shane McDowell and wife Sandy of Denton, Darren Lee McDowell and wife Crystal of Evans, GA; step granddaughter, Mary Beth Sillmon of Ramseur; great grandchildren, John Cole McDowell, David Luke McDowell; Addison Rebecca McDowell, and Anna Grace McDowell. Mrs. Loflin will lie in state from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2021, at Ridge Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the staff at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home for the exceptional care for Allene. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Randolph, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203, or a charity of the donor's choice.
