Alice Farlow Mcrae

Alice Faye Farlow McRae, age 79, of Asheboro, NC, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning surrounded by her loved ones, October 19, 2014, at FirstHealth Moore Regional in Pinehurst, NC. A graveside service will be conducted on Sunday, October 26, 2014, at 3:00 pm by the Rev. Whitney L. Wilkinson, at Seagrove Christian Church Cemetery, Seagrove, NC. Alice was a native of Randoph County. Alice Faye, as many fondly called her, attended Seagrove High School in Seagrove, NC and The Notre Academy in Southern Pines, NC. For many years, Alice was the smiling and welcoming face of the family-owned business, Seagrove Grocery, where local community residents loved to shop and visit with her. She was an avid lover of animals (especially dogs) and throughout her years showed many her kindness and love. She was a master cross-stitcher and would spend hours creating works of art which she so generously shared with her family and friends. She and Lawrence enjoyed traveling and thoroughly loved taking the grandchildren, when they were youngsters, on fun-filled trips. The grandchildren would always come home with many funny stories on "Granny and Papa." She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Lawrence Wade McRae, and her parents, Amos and Asia Farlow. She is survived by her daughter, Devonna McRae of Sedona, Arizona; sons, James "Mark" McRae and wife Cathy, of Cameron, NC and Charles A. "Tony" Farlow and wife Marilyn of Albemarle, NC; grandchildren, Mary Hannah McRae of Southern Pines, NC; William David Pierce of Asheboro, NC; Kelly Farlow Byrum of Charlotte, NC; and Chuck Farlow of Albemarle, NC; and great-grandchildren, Sonny Michael Pierce and Kinsley Byrum. She is also survived by her sisters, Patsy Callicutt of Seagrove, NC and Helen Neill of Pinehurst, NC. A viewing and visitation for the family to receive friends will be held prior to the service from 2:00 – 3:00 pm in the cemetery. In honor of Alice's love and compassion for dogs, memorials may be made to an Animal Rescue Organization of your choosing.
