Jimmy Skeen

Mr. James Richard "Jimmy" Skeen, 71, of Asheboro, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, June 6, 2011, at his residence. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Swaney officiating. Burial will follow at West Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Asheboro. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Skeen was born March 15, 1940. He was the son of the late Charles Baxter Skeen and Kate Elizabeth Small Skeen. He had worked at Acme-McCrary Corp. for 20 years and was also self-employed in the construction and grading industry. He was a loving and devoted husband, Daddy, and Papaw. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was the greatest example of how people should never give up no matter what the circumstances. In addition to his parents, Mr. Skeen was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Skeen. Mr. Skeen is survived by his wife, Joyce Skeen, of the home; daughters, Carol Skeen Summey and husband, Don, of Thomasville, NC, Darla Skeen Richardson and husband, Doug, of Asheboro, NC, Mary Kate Skeen Marlowe and husband, Sam, of Asheboro, NC; son, Charles Skeen and wife, Sara, of Asheboro, NC; sister, Judy Skeen Sexton and husband, Joel, of Thomasville, NC; brothers, Wayne Skeen and wife, Patsy, of Greensboro, NC, Donald Skeen and wife, Nancy, of Denton, NC, Dolan Skeen and wife, Sharon, of Thomasville, NC; grandchildren, Christopher Trent Summey, Kristen Taylor Summey, Ryan Douglas Richardson, Ashley Nicole Richardson, Ainsley Hope Marlowe, Kara Elise Marlowe, and his faithful companion and protector, Scrappy. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
