Ed Blake

Mr. Charles Edward "Ed"� Blake, Sr., 91, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Randolph Hospital. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Norman Cemetery in Norman. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Montgomery County, NC, Mr. Blake was born May 25, 1920. He was the son of the late Annaius Blake and Nancy Ellen Lewis Blake. He was a retired truck driver having driven for H&H trucking and retiring from Burlington Industries (Klopman Mills). He was also a member of the Million Mile Club. He loved music and enjoyed playing guitar with the "Good Times"� band on Thursday evenings at the Randolph Arts Guild. In addition to his parents, Mr. Blake was preceded in death by his son Charles Edward Blake, Jr. Mr. Blake served in the US Navy during World War II. Mr. Blake is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Liles Blake, of the home; daughters, Regina Johnson and husband, Darren, of Randleman, NC, Wendy Thompson and husband, Wyatt, of Asheboro, NC; son, Jimmy Blake and wife, Pat, of Jamestown, NC; daughter-in-law, Coline Blake, of Asheboro, NC; 14 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
