Dewey Kiser

Charles Dewey Kiser, 86, of Asheboro, NC died April 3, 2014 at the Randolph Hospice House. A native of Randolph County, Dewey was born March 28, 1928 to Robie Dewey Kiser and Mary Elizabeth Hayes Kiser. He was one of ten children, 5 girls and 5 boys. He was raised on a farm in the community of Erect, and spent his working years in textiles. In retirement, he happily returned to his farming roots and enjoyed tending a large garden in the country. He and his wife, Virginia, are known to many for their participation for a number of years in the Asheboro Farmers' Market. He was a long-time member of Brower's Chapel United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia Gatlin Kiser; a sister, Grace Moore ; a son, Charles Dewey Kiser, Jr. of Wake Forest, NC; a daughter, Barbara Kiser Long (Larry) of Burlington, NC; grandchildren, Virginia Long Rogers (Todd) of Fernandina Beach, FL, Lawrence Ross Long, Jr. of Asheville, NC, MaRanda Kiser and Liz Kiser of Raleigh, NC, Laura Gilmore (Todd) of Apex, NC and Jon Maynard of New York; great-grandchildren; Sarah Rogers, Alec Rogers, Zach Rogers, Devin Mitchel, Sarah Gilmore and Tyler Gilmore. He was predeceased by his parents; his beloved daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Kiser, and siblings, Dessie Needham, Eunice Asbill, Estelle Garner, Joyce Kennedy, W.C. Kiser, Harold Kiser, Ronnie Kiser, and Coy Kiser. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 5 at 2:00 pm at Ridge Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm in the chapel. Burial will be at Randolph Memorial Park following the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Randolph Hospice House 446 Vision Dr. Asheboro, NC 27203.
